3D printing is about to enter the mainstream, and lower processing costs have led to the increasing dispersion and availability of this technology, raising unprecedented challenges for intellectual property experts, as well as businesses and policy makers.
The book, 3D Printing, Intellectual Property and Innovation – Insights from Law and Technology, raises awareness on 3D printing technology from the perspectives of IP law, business and policy. It collects views of 25 legal, technical and business experts in 16 articles, and proposes academically and practically valuable solutions to some of the most urgent challenges that the technology poses in the context of business, IP law and policy.
The book has its origins in research conducted as part of a multidisciplinary project entitled Additive Manufacturing and Innovation: Technical, Economic, Legal, and Policy Related Aspects of Rising Technologies, a collaborative academic study financed by Tekes – the Finnish Funding Agency for Innovation.
