Machining and Cutting Processes

Machining and cutting processes are an important part of our production engineering research, particularly with the integrated digitalisation of quality control and flexible manufacturing.  Our facilities include CNC equipment and a five-axis machining centre, enabling our research to include production-level digital integration of machining with additive manufacturing systems and the foundry.  This provides novel methods for rapid, flexible throughput and high quality for a complete production system, using finite element modelling of forming, machining and the reliable field use of parts.
