Influence of demand response actions on thermal comfort and electricity cost for residential houses.
The public examination of the doctoral dissertation of Behrang Alimohammadisagvand (Vand), M.Sc. will be held on 31st August 2018 at 12.00 at the Aalto University School of Engineering. The title of the dissertation is Influence of demand response actions on thermal comfort and electricity cost for residential houses. Field of the dissertation is energy efficiency and systems, heating and ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC).
This study was defined to figure out how much heating energy cost can be reduced or minimized by demand response approach while indoor thermal comfort is in the good level for residential houses.
The demand response mechanism motivates the occupants to adjust different temperature set points for space heating, while keeping up the thermal comfort of the dwellers at the acceptable level, and/or maintaining different temperature set points for hot water storage tank(s) by following the hourly energy prices.
The results showed that the demand response algorithms can reduce or minimize the heating energy cost for different heating systems of residential houses in a cold climate. The results can be easily applied to different building types as well.
Moreover, this study is connected to the electronic, automation and HVAC systems.
